"Make Maps of TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR!"

Children will be able to make maps of TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR at this workshop taught by artist Elena Tutatchikova who sees walking as a form of expression. In the first half of the workshop, freely explore the Fair looking for the books you like, sparking your imagination with the worlds to be found within them and chatting with their producers. Maps will then be created in the second half based on these experiences. How will the world of art books unfold as seen from the perspectives of children?

Elena Tutatchikova

Elena Tutatchikova was born in Moscow, Russia in 1984. She is interested in the connection between nature and humans, the formation of human memories from cultural phenomena, and the relationship between walking and imagination. One of her works is the photobook "After an Apple Falls From the Tree, There is a Sound" (torch press, 2016).

Have Fun with Paper *Japanese only

Have fun with paper. Expand your imagination with paper. The "Gods of Paper" Sobey and Wakkey first appeared in the fresh, new interactive mook (portmanteau word for magazine and book) "Paperpuntas," and now they are coming to "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR: Ginza Edition." Cut, tear, fold paper and make it pop—have fun with paper together with Sobey and Wakkey!

Sobey

This "God of Paper," who first appeared in "Paperpuntas," wears a paper bag on his head and collects his beloved paper scraps. He is particularly fond of the thinness of paper. When he takes the paper bag off, he turns into "Paperpuntas" Art Director Shin Sobue.

(Shin Sobue: Head of Cozfish, born in Aichi Prefecture in 1959. After graduating from the fine arts course at Aichi Prefectural Asahigaoka Senior High School, he entered the Department of Graphic Design at Tama Art University but did not finish the program. He likes to get carried away, and he even enjoys things when they don't go well.)

Wakkey

This "God of Paper" who first appeared in "Paperpuntas" wears a paper bow on her head, and a paper skirt. She is particularly fond of the pliancy of paper. When she is not wearing the Wakkey outfit, she turns into "Paperpuntas" Designer Asuka Wakida.

(Asuka Wakida: Lifestyle Director of Cozfish, born in Aichi Prefecture in 1993. She graduated from the Department of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School. She strives to live a fulfilling life, while working with exhibitions and books)

"Paperpuntas"

"Paperpuntas" is a fresh, new type of interactive mook which takes a variety of approaches in expressing the possibilities of paper, with art direction by book designer Shin Sobue. The "Gods of Paper" Sobey and Wakkey who came bursting onto the scene in "Paperpuntas" now have strong presence in children's magazine "Yochien" (Japanese for "kindergarten"), and on TV Tokyo show "Oha Suta". They convey the wonders and excitement of paper.
