A Message to You from King Gnu/ millennium parade、PERIMETRON

King Gnu/ millennium parade/ PERIMETRON Daiki Tsuneta

We have engaged in every aspect of our activities, including not only our music, but also our music videos, artworks and products, with a sense of conviction. It would be a pleasure for us if we could share with everyone the life that we have breathed into our numerous works to date through this exhibition. Being a theme park with an amiable name like GNU-MILLEPARK, I hope everyone will feel free to come and enjoy themselves.

PERIMETRON/ millennium parade Shu Sasaki

It's a great honor and joy to have music videos and artworks that were completed once, revived and delivered once again to people through this project. The theme park is still under construction, but I would like everyone to come and take a peek at the inner workings of our minds.

Comments by Ryusuke Sano about his art display

I've put together artwork that mixes various materials with the theme of "Tokyo Chaotic" and teamed up with Ginza Sony Park to display it here.

Whether you observe it from up close or farther out, I think a variety of different pictures will come into view.

My own vision is that it looks like a pitcure no matter where it's cut off, and that everyone who sees it has a different impression of it and their own parts that they like.

Please take lots of photos.

King Gnu band members experiencing #014 GNU-MILLEPARK

Four members of King Gnu strolled through #014 GNU-MILLEPARK before it was opened to the public. The sneak preview video of their experiences in Ginza Sony Park's "chaotic park" transformation and a special interview is now available to the public.

Guided by members of PERIMETRON on the day of their sneak preview, excitement and expectation build among the group as they take in the imposing mural by the large staircase and the ‘under construction’ signboard on their way to floor B1. The first thing the group sees is the t-shirt collection exhibit, which elicits excitement as they recall their designs of yesteryear. Each band member then tries the capsule vending machine. They each somehow get the same rubber strap in their capsules, as the other members laugh and take their turns.

Next, the group experiences Fly with me LIVE 3D. They spontaneously break out in applause when it ends, exclaiming “Wow!” and “That was too amazing.” Their excitement is evident, as Yu Seki says, “Is this exhibit really free of charge?” and Satoru Iguchi says, "It was an emotional ride, like being taken to the future." The group also explodes in laughter at a special interactive feature that has been added to the music video viewing exhibit.

Having the chance to play Fly with me -THE GAME, the arcade game that recreates the world from the video game in the teaser for the music video, Seki exclaims “It’s something I always thought should be made. Now actually playing it, the otherworldly vibe just feels electric.” Iguchi then plays the game while the others look on. You can see the friendly dynamic between the group members. Daiki Tsuneta reveals that INTO THE PLANKTON on the same floor is his favorite exhibit and praises its "incredibly high quality." When asked how they would use the car in the exhibit afterward, they all laugh that “Satoru (Iguchi) will probably buy it.”

After experiencing lots of what the program has to offer, Iguchi enthusiastically admits "I'm full." He explains, "There were more exhibits than I thought, and some things even I didn’t know about (laughing). It made me want to watch the music videos again." When asked their impressions after actually seeing the exhibits, the other members also shared their awe. Kazuki Arai says, "No artists have ever put together anything like this before. It transcends the boundaries of the exhibits that you usually see." Iguchi and Seki say, "You can tell that love has gone into these productions, even down to the finer details. We hope visitors take the time to thoroughly enjoy every part of it."

In the interview after the sneak preview, Tsuneta says "Ginza Sony Park is currently under construction, and we ourselves are also works in progress. Having this point in common was the reason we chose 'under construction' as the theme. Honestly, we would prefer people to come and experience it in person, but with things the way they are right now we also set up the option to experience it online. Either way, we think you'll enjoy what this program has to offer."

Profiles

King Gnu

Creator Daiki Tsuneta, who studied at Tokyo University of the Arts, began forging his unique musical path with the creation of Srv. Vinci in 2015. After several member changes, the band settled on its current lineup of Daiki Tsuneta (guitar, vocals), Yu Seki (drums, samplers), Kazuki Arai (bass), and Satoru Iguchi (vocal, keyboards). After appearances at SXSW 2017 and Japan NiteUS Tour 2017, the band relaunched itself as "King Gnu" in April 2017. Their sound, known as "Tokyo New Mixture," brings together their unique pop sense and sensuality. They have played at major festivals, such as the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL, and their music videos, created in conjunction with their partner creative label, PERIMETRON, have drawn a great deal of interest. Their headlining shows always sell out!! They have created a distinctive world through all of their creative efforts ? their music, videos, artwork, and live performances.

King Gnu

millennium parade

millennium parade is a creative collective organized by Daiki Tsuneta, a producer and songwriter based in Tokyo, Japan, who also leads one of the region's biggest bands, King Gnu. millennium parade is an energetic and inspiring group, composed of artists from various creative fields including musicians, a film director, visual effects artist, designer, illustrator and so on. Their musical sound is electronic-leaning, featuring synths and pop-inspired melodies, overlaying chaotic beats.

millennium parade's concept is inspired by "Hyakki Yakō" - "The Night Parade of One Hundred Demons", deriving from centuries old Japanese folklore. The 'night parade' saw supernatural creatures roam the streets causing utter pandemonium throughout Japan. This chaos and mystery underlies the group's collective vision to present Tokyo's new values to the rest of the world. Their ambition is global and their intention is to surprise and awaken.

From their first appearance in 2019, with stunningly memorable music releases and companion videos, all created by the band, an innovative launch party utilizing 3D technology and sold out live shows, the band emerged in 2020 as a force to be noticed. Their song 'Fly with me', was the main theme song for world famous Japanese animation 'Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045' and it was remixed by the renowned Steve Aoki. The band returned late 2020 with the genre-bending 'Philip', spinning tales of injustice and hope from the mouth of a 2D animated Doberman named Stan.

Despite being a relatively new and curiously mysterious group, they have already collaborated with DIOR and most recently adidas, for whom Tsuneta was recently named a Global Ambassador, while Tsuneta himself has also been featured in campaigns for Coach / Jean Michel Basquiat and more. The chaos will continue as 2021 appears.
